The Tara Players Theatre Group are opening up their 43rd season this November with the North American Premiere of The Trial of Padraig Pearse. Directed by Donal O'Hanlon, this is a joint production between Tara Players and the Newpoint Players of the Thomas D'Arcy McGee Foundation in Carlingford, Ireland
Written by Anthony Russell, this is a ground-breaking, audience participation play that calls Padraig Pearse from the grave to answer, in the "court of history", the charge that he committed treason against Ireland. Brought back from the grave to prosecute him is Thomas D'Arcy McGee, former Irish rebel and a founding father of Canadian Confederation. In this unique production, the audience acts as jury and decides the outcome of Padraig Pearse's trial.
The Trial of Padráig Pearse runs November 1st-6th at the Irish Association of Manitoba.
